Unpopular opinion: the kid savings accounts are the most bipartisan thing in the whole bill

Everybody wants to argue about the rate cuts and the SALT cap and nobody talks about the one part that helps a kid in Kearns exactly as much as a kid in Park City. Flat $1,000, no means test, no application maze. Change my mind.

Half agree. The flat amount is genuinely clean. But the family throwing in $5k a year on top compounds into something the kid in Kearns never catches, so it narrows the gap at the bottom and widens it above.

The part nobody has mentioned: the conversion to an IRA at 18 means a 19 year old can cash it out with a penalty and buy a truck. Behavior is going to matter more than the policy design here.
